Interesting Things to Do In Halifax

Halifax is a place steeped in history and most of this is centered on the sea. The place has a lot to offer visitors and there is a little something for everyone to do here. These are some of the interesting things to do in Halifax:

  1. Citadel Hill National Historic Site

This is one of the most frequented sites in Canada. The star-shaped fort citadel is large and looks a little spooky. Its construction commenced in 1749 which was when Halifax was founded. The current version is the fourth one and the Citadel has been rebuilt three other times in the past. You can be part of some of the guided tours that are conducted here to get a better idea of the history of the place.

  1. Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21

From 1928 to 1971 in excess of a million immigrants entered Canada from this pier. The historical context and their stories that led them to leave their homelands behind form the basis of this outstanding museum. It has compelling exhibits that include the ‘Canadian Immigration Story and the ‘Pier 21 Story’ that has recently renovated. There are beautiful artifacts and firsthand testimonies that can be viewed at these exhibits. Its little surprise that this place tops the list of things to do in Halifax.

  1. En Vie a Vegan

This is a very popular local restaurant focused on organic, locally-sourced sustainable, plant-based foods that are now becoming a global trend. The food here is just amazing and there is absolutely nothing bland or boring about it. Most menu items at this restaurant feature the name of the original non-vegan counterparts and the dishes served don’t have any animal products.

In addition to these, there are a number of other things to do in Halifax such as Halifax Seaport Farmers Market, Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Halifax Public Gardens, Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park.
